Pro Bono Opportunities
Volunteer attorneys gather detailed, case type-specific information from pre-screened clients. They assess the case, aid in the overall understanding of the legal process and provide general advice. All cases are reviewed and the volunteer attorneys provide input as to whether further legal services are needed.
Volunteer attorneys provide legal assistance to pre-screened individuals who could not otherwise afford legal representation. Clients would be placed, in writing, through the Pro Bono Program of Gulfcoast Legal Services.
Volunteer attorneys provide information and fully executed Living Wills to the general public.
Volunteer attorneys provide advice only to members of the Hispanic community and others assisted by Spanish speaking law students from the Hispanic Student Bar at Stetson University College of Law. Attorneys do not provide continuing representation for the participants but refer them to Gulfcoast offices or Lawyer Referral Services as indicated.
Individuals served by the Gulfcoast Legal Services Pro Bono Program must meet the financial criteria (Federal Poverty Guidelines) and live north of Ulmerton Road up to the Pasco County line. Volunteer attorneys are covered by Gulfcoast Legal Services’ malpractice insurance while doing qualified pro bono work. Volunteers must be licensed Florida attorneys in good standing with The Florida Bar Association. Workshops and Community Education presentations will be arranged during the year at various locations.
